There are many more oustanding media for providing your handicrafts with special effects. The fixative spray is particularly suitable for fixing artworks made by means of pastel colours, chalk sticks, charcoal or pencil, as it provides them with a transparent protective film. It also dries quickly out, does not yellow and is based on organic solvents.
The drying time extender delays the drying time of the paint to enable techniques such as patination, wet-on-wet painting or air-brushing. To do this, mix the drying time extender with acrylic paints in a mixing ratio of 1:1. All DecoArt acrylic paints for painting fabrics can be used with the fabric painting medium, which needs simply to be mixed with the respective paint in a mixing ratio of 1:1. Especially advantageous is that the textile painting medium is colourless and transparent, and therefore does not alter the colour brilliance. After painting, the textiles should dry for about 1-2 days before the fixing of the medium by ironing. For a decorative reinforcement of fabrics, clothes, leather, paper and much more, the fabric stiffener is simply indispensable. To that end, apply the fabric stiffener onto the chosen item by means of a paintbrush or just dip the very same item into it. Moreover, the fabric stiffener impresses with its numerous advantages such as transparency, quick drying, no yellowing, the possibility to be painted with acrylic paint after drying or the fact that it becomes weather-resistant once painted with clear varnish.
Light up the night in vivid colours – by means of the Glow-in-the-dark medium, which makes every acrylic paint glow. It works best on surfaces painted with light or transparent paint colours. Simply apply the medium in one or more layers after the paint has dried out. You can also apply only the Glow-in-the-dark medium and enjoy colourless light effects at night.
The pouring-medium allows a very special form of artistic expression and to boost one's own creativity. You don't need to be an expert in painting to achieve outstanding effects with this medium, because the acrylic paint needs only to be mixed with the pouring-medium until it becomes as liquid as honey and then it can be poured or dripped onto the surface of your choice. Canvas frames, wood or canvas board are, for example, perfectly suited to this purpose. By tilting the base or increasing the amount of paint, new patterns can be created, resulting in unique works of art.
Any substrate can look antique with the All-purpose patina, as a part of patina remains in the grooves of the surface. Therefore, all-purpose patina is also very useful for varnishing raw wood and papier-mâché. The patina must be applied generously to painted surfaces with a paintbrush and then immediately wiped off with an absorbent, clean cloth. The All-purpose patina should dry for about 24 hours. That’s how the antique look is easily achieved!
You would like to provide your artwork with a subtle perlescent shimmer? You can turn now your desire into reality thanks to the pearl shimmer effect medium. This medium must also be mixed with the acrylic paint of your choice in a mixing ratio of 1:1 or applied directly to the painted, dry substrate.
In order to protect the painted surface from damaging impacts or fading brilliance, there is our water-based acrylic varnish. This milky fluid becomes clear and resilient after drying, does not yellow and can be diluted with water. The acrylic varnish is a finishing varnish for surfaces painted with acrylic paint or serves as a sealer. Here you have the choice between the acrylic varnish in a silky matt or glossy version – it’s up to you to choose!
Art brought onto wax
It is now possible with the candle painting medium for acrylic paints which is ideal for painting wax. It needs to be mixed in the mixing ratio of 1:1, with e.g. your favourite acrylic paint, and each wax can be designed individually. The good opacity that this medium provides is only one of its great advantages.
You can achieve the effect of a sandy, rough surface with the sand texture medium, which must be mixed in the mixing ratio of 1:1 with the acrylic paint of your choice and can then be applied with a paintbrush or spatula. You can iron on your napkins without wrinkles using the Hot Gloss medium, as it is heat-tolerant.
The paint binder medium is suitable for thickening the acrylic paint, which thus also enables the use of spatula technique and generates dimensional works. To that end, the medium must be mixed in the mixing ratio of 1:1 with the acrylic paint of your choice. The colour itself remains unaltered.
For detailed glimmering effects, the Glimmer pen is simply a must. It contains a snow-white paste with a subtle glimmering that can be applied directly from the pen applicator. The paste is acid-free, which also makes it very suitable for paper. This pen is ideal for writing or for fine, fiddly decorations. Thus, every detail shines with a special glow!
